When you come and visit Madagascar, one of the attraction of its unique wildlife is the Chameleons. They are reptiles, it means they are cold blooded animal. They are seen in all part of the country and in different habitat. Some are seen in humid rainforest, the other in dry deciduous vegetation, and the last one in very dry area.
Talking about the numbers of chameleons, the last database i got is from the 2015 when they last counted all of them. Actually, there were about 204 species of different shape, size, and of course colors in the world which are spread into 12 genera. And Madagascar itself holds half of those species, there are more than 100 discovered species up to now and they are within 3 genera, the Brookesia, the Calumma, and the Furcifer.
And Madagascar holds the smallest and the biggest of all of them.
We will see more next time how each genus of the chameleons is in their natural habitat, their behaviors, diet ... where they are located
